Tax credit?

Not sure Obama thought about the effect of the Tax Credit on those of us in the Mortgage business......let's just say I'm proud to have lived thru it! Not even going to count the number of hours spent in the office in the past couple of weeks. Tomorrow I SHALL be home on time...

Update over the past couple of days. Chelsey DID get her license...NOT Monday, she failed to yield in one spot and ummm.... failed. She can parallel park, but can't yield. Tuesday she returned, after being BEYOND mad Monday, and passes......I'll just have to remind her of those triangle signs.

Colby is working out every morning and I think it's kicking his butt, because he's home tonight and already in bed.

Danny has mowed today. Sounds like such a simple task, but we have a LOT of grass....when I got home, he had tears rolling, from allergies...

Glad June is over, bring on July!!!!

Dang it's HOT!!!

I shall give up my traditional orange text color for RED today. Dang it's hot. Have been in the house all day, except to run to the grocery store. I hate cold weather, so I shall not complain about 100 degrees.

Can't believe June is almost behind us. The kids will be back in school before we know it. And best of all FOOTBALL will begin again. Everyone in the town starts talking about the upcoming season, as soon as school is out.

Have had a house of teens today....least they are all here and not out in trouble someplace! One of them just asked Danny if he'd moved from his chair all day. I refrained from answering for him.

XOXO,
Pam

P.S. Chelsey gets her license tomorrow, if she can parallel park that is. Wonder why on earth they still have that as part of the driving test? Gosh knows it's a rarity these days to park that way.

Choctaw run

Made a run to Choctaw tonight....that place is WAY to close to our house. Danny and I made it there in 49 minutes. Amazing when all the road construction is completed, just how fast the trip is. And NO, didn't win, but enjoyed it as always.

Colby at Tylers. Lauren here with Chelsey. Everyone one is safe and sound!

A week full of "ifs"

We've had quite the week here at the Fenter Funny Farm. First, let me state that NO ONE was injured..... And the run down is....

IF PaPa Danny let's two certain little boys ride the Kubota's...they might just roll one of them on it's side.

IF a certain son drives 45 mph down a white rock road....he might slide and gently smack a tree.

IF a certain daughter and her boyfriend have a disagreement and said boyfriend throws keys into daughter's jeep....they might bust the covering in the dash that goes over the speedometer and gauges.

IF you look at our youngest daughters FB profile....you might see "is no longer in a relationship" and then check out the boyfriends...you might see the same thing.

IF that same daughter goes job hunting with a friend and the friend gets stopped for speeding (60 in a 45) and said daughter has her feet up in the seat....the cop might chew her up over it.

IF you arrive at my office before 6am...you MIGHT get soaked by the sprinklers shockingly coming on at the moment you get near the building.

IF you receive a picture via text of a beautiful beach...it MIGHT be your Aunt and Mom taunting you.

IF one arrives home on Thursday afternoon, to an empty house....someone must have forgotten to tell you about your youngest grandson's birthday party.

IF we have another week like this, Carla and Paul are taking the kids and I'll pay child support.....

IF you are smiling at this point, I'm glad someone is....because I am not.

Happy Friday to everyone.....

Tired...

Tonight, I've got nothing. I think my full day Sunday including the entire afternoon out at the pool have officially kicked my butt. Off to bed early tonight.

Mom, I hope you are having a great time! Megan, I LOVE the picture of Jeff and Hayden at the beach and the story about the book will always be very special to you. Carla, I LOVE you.... And to anyone else visiting our blog, night night, I'm off for the night.

A great Father's Day...

Father's Day 2010 is coming to an end, and although it is a day for the guys, I too had a great time! Up at a little before six this morning, shower and hit the road to Emory to take Daddy to breakfast. After eating at Chubby's, we went to his buddy Tazz's house (what a character!) for Katalva (okay it's not spelled right, but that's how we say it!) Worms. Tazz had a few as his house, then we went to another house on Ravine Street for more. He climbed the tree and shook it. We got showered with worm poop and worms....
Here's one of the trees that did NOT have worms,
but at least we found others with lots to knock down with a fishing pole.
I think this picture made Carla squirm a bit!

I bagged up 141 worms (this is only 50) in corn meal.
We'll see if they really do go "dormant" and come back
to life when I thaw them out from the freezer.
Can't wait to fish with them!
After our great worm hunt, we went to the Woosley Cemetery
to place flowers at Douglas' grave. Miss you Doe!
Afterwards we stopped and saw Uncle Raymond and Aunt Sharon
for a few minutes. Still can't believe Jeff, Megan and Hayden's house,
very sad to see all their stuff outside, but glad they are all safe!

After leaving there, we headed to Lone Oak, so that Daddy could drive Mom's
car home from Aunt Barbara and Gary's house.
Had a great time with you Daddy....we'll do it again sometime.
Happy Father's Day, love you!
Drove back to Celina, to spend the day with Danny, Colby, Chelsey,
Ashley, Tazz, Colton, Dylan, Asa and Dallas.
Great day for burgers, margaritas, and sunning in the pool.

I'd say it was a great Father's Day....

XOXO, Pam

My other son....

My other son Tyler was about to get a new name.....Twyla! Just look at how long his hair had gotten. After much harrassing by Danny and I, he finally gave into "Clipper Man" Danny.....
This is what Danny cut off!

And afterwards, he looked like my other son,
instead of my other daughter!

Tagging on to Carla's post

Megan, Jeff and Hayden, I was as surprised as Carla to read Aunt Sharon's email this morning. And agree with her, should you need ANYTHING at all, let us know. Glad the photos memories were saved...And thankful you have a blog, that a fire couldn't get too!

Busy busy busy Thursday. No comments on my Texas accent today! Can't believe tomorrow is Friday again, but not complaining.

Is it Friday yet?

What an INSANE day at work....glad Wednesday is over. Still like it, but GEEZ. Today I talked to a customer from someplace up north, and he asked me, as I was mid sentence, "are you from Texas?" I said, "Yes sir, I am." He then said "Thought so, you drag your words out." Hum....I shall drop it at that. Never mind what I wanted to say back. I continued with my Texas charm, acted as if I didn't even flench. He doesn't know I SLAMMED the phone down after he said goodbye.

Danny and the kids actually put Ashley up to texting me a request this afternoon. I simply ignored. :-)

Pam

P.S. Is it Friday yet?

EVERYONE HOME and on the couch....

This afternoon I was BEYOND mad at my beautiful children. On my way home I text both of them, "HOME by 8pm no questions asked or I'll be hunting you down". Both got home at 5 till 8. On the couch they went, side by side, while I paced and yelled (honestly this is really rare for me) for about 5 minutes. Their new rule is IF you are going to text Mom, DO NOT begin your sentence with "Can you, will you, I need, stop and get, we are out of...." or any form of those words. I believe after 5+ minutes of full blown red faced Mom yelling, they have it all straight. Afterward, they folded and put up the towels, straightened their rooms, will likely not leave a dish BY the sink anymore, will NOT use the "good" towels in the bathroom, or leave crap all over the back patio after friends have visited for a swim, and dang sure will not text me with a request. Unless someone or something is on FIRE, my phone number off limits, unless they just want to say they love me..... Whew, do I feel better!

XOXO,
Pam

Father's Day is coming!

In just one week it will be Father's Day again..... I'm reading the book (well the Kindle virtual book anyway) "Funny Sh*t my Father Says." A few of the funnies from the book:

On breaking the Neighbor's Window for the third time;

What in the hell is the matter with you? This is the third time! You know, at this point I think it's the neighbor's fault...No not really, it's your f'ing fault, I'm just in denial right now that my DNA was somehow involved in something this stupid.

On appropriate times to give a gift:

Yea, I got him a gift. He got a kidney stone taken out. If you shoot a rock thru your pecker, you deserve more than just a pat on the f'ing back!

On selling his beloved 1967 2-Door Mercury Cougar:

This is what happens when you have a family. You sacrifice. (pause) You sacrifice a lot. (long pause) It's gonna be in your best interest to stay away from me for the next couple of days.

You may not see the humor in just a couple of lines from the book, but it's pretty funny.

As for Father's Day coming up, I think about a few things.....

Danny, the man that I PROMISED 20 years ago, I ONLY wanted one baby (we all know how this one turned out), the man that has made me laugh, cry, scream and dream for so many years... Who taught me to shoot pool, drink Jack Daniels (although with diet coke instead of water like you), spent countless hours in the sun at Wind Point Park, shoot a shot gun (remember I DID miss you that day in Crockett, although not by much), washes dishes and reminds me that it does not take every pot and pan in the house to boil water, snores like there is no tomorrow, still wears a Speedo, gave up 12 long years to make sure the kids didn't miss anything while I worked, puts up with my Choctaw trips, shopping sprees, messy closet...the list is endless....thank you! And Happy Father's Day Week...I love u!

Danny's Dad, Douglas, Papa Doe, Dosey: He taught me to play canasta, and I caught on to he and Uncle Doug cheating fairly quickly. He fished with me a few times and was such a neat man who loved his grand kids more than life itself. He'd hide an Easter Egg, no matter what the weather was doing. Fed cookies to squirrels, wore overalls a lot and used to get this "WTF" look on his face at times, but NEVER say a word. Sure miss that man. Hugs to you in heaven...

As for you Daddy....you taught me to like green plums, fish (including putting any kind of live bait on a hook), slide down the fire station pole, inherited your feet, and taught me to ride my ponies, using a goat weed on his behind to keep him focused. Your attempts at making me have anything to do with cows were NOT a success...remember the time you told Carla and I to stand between the truck and the pond and not let the cows run thru? How fast did Carla and I bolt, when they headed our way? You were DETERMINED to teach me to drive the VW, and here we go, sitting beside the house, I pop it into reverse, you in the passengers seat, and we both look back, I ease off the clutch and we lurch forward, into the fence. Least I helped you bend it back! I still eat mustard on my steak, just like you, even though everyone else makes a face at me. And for that matter, I believe steaks cooked at home are far better than any restaurant could ever be! Although we are far away, and rarely slow down for a visit, please know that I love you and wish you a Happy Father's Day Week! We'll see you next weekend, I promise.

Pam

Colby goes Shopping...

Yesterday afternoon, Colby walks into the kitchen and says "Mom, I got Tap Out shirts at WalMart." I said "Son, WalMart does not carry Tap Out shirts." He went on to say that he checked the tag, and it said something else, BUT they are just like Tap Out.... AND he was so proud of himself for finding 3 shirts for $15.00 total plus tax. He said MOM that's $5.00 each! His words? "I'm going to shop at WalMart from now on!" If I could just get Chelsey into this mode, we'd be all good. Can't see it happening, but a Mom is allowed to dream too!

Trying to decide what I shall cook today. Was thinking crock pot, but just not sure. Colby will eat just about anything. Chelsey on the other hand...well let's just leave it at that.

Colby just rolled out of bed, Danny just turned on the tv. Guess I'd better get off the lap top and see what the plan is for today. Maybe a little fishing and sun.

PF

P.S. I took the Dallas paper Sport page yesterday, and marked the horses I'd have bet on. Checked it this morning, and let's just say I did better live on Friday night.

Just another Saturday...

Nothing exciting at all today...was a bit tired from getting home at midnight last night (YES, I know I'm old!). Went to Starbucks with Danny, dropped off dry cleaning (I MUST be the only person that can have $89.00 worth of dry cleaning, when it's somewhere around $1.50 per piece...) and then headed to Lewisville to show Danny where my office is, in case he'd like to drop by for lunch one day. Since we had time (ie., more than I have on my lunch hour) we drove around to see just what was in the area. I'd say EVERYTHING... Even found a Souper Salad, which is a definite favorite of mine. Had lunch at BJ's Brewery and then headed East to meet up with Carla and Paul in Garland. Carla was having her laser work done, she says DON'T ASK, so I'm not. Then back home. Fell asleep on the couch for about an hour and a half, then as I woke up, Danny laid down for a nap. So....I did what anyone would do.....headed into McKinney for a hair cut (more like a scalp, since I've cut it myself so much, and it had to be re-worked), pedicure and brow wax. Ran into Ulta and then back home. Danny's awake and hungry again, so we head out to Prosper for Mexican Food at Ernesto's.

Home by 8:30, watching the Rough Riders (minor league baseball team from Frisco) on one of Danny's off the wall satellite channels. Already took my sleepy pills, so I've probably got another 20-30 minutes and I'll be asleep again.

Carla, love the photo of Dirty St Joseph and am also glad his place of honor is with Puppy and Kitty, on your mantle. (by the way, Paul, I'm already on the look out for your next "unusual" gift!) Now that your St. has worked, and since I bought them at the same time, maybe our St Joseph was just waiting until yours finished his job. I'm sure his magic will kick in here soon. As we say in Celina, WE BELIEVE!

XOXO,
Pam

P.S. Mom, Carla may try and talk you into using the mouse pad, but I on the other hand, prefer a wireless mouse for my lap top. To each his own though, gosh knows Carla has always been a little different.

P.S.S. Jeannine, so....did your Passport come in yet?

P.S.S.S. Megan, hope your having a great time! Safe trip home and you are correct, your Mom looks fabulous!

XOXO again....night night

And the winner is...

Lone Star Park was a lot of fun! I actually picked 5 of 9 winners, and came home up by $300.00+. The office pick, dontarguewithgirls came in second to last... Oh well, it's still a great name for a horse. A few images are below, although not very clear, because we were in the Suites on the sixth floor. Fun Fun Fun!!!

Eli Young Band stage was set up and just about to start
as I was leaving. The bulk of the crowd you see were 15-16 year olds
and it was way past my bedtime, so I got the heck out of there!

Friday, June 11, 2010

Lone Star Park tonight.

Going to Lone Star Park with a group from the office. LOVE the horse races almost as much as Choctaw. I let my Processing team pick one horse to bet on. Their choice? dontarguewithgirls in the first race. I'd say that's a perfect pick!

Eli Young Band after the races...should be lots of fun. We'll be in the 6th floor suites. Can I just say it again.......I love my new job!

Kindle review.....

First...let me say, I'm not selling anything here, just giving my review. For Christmas, I bought something for myself, that I REALLY wanted. It's the Kindle from amazon.com If you've heard of it, you've heard it's fabulous. If you've not heard of it, let me give you a snap shot. Photo below is of MY Kindle. I ordered the orange and white "skin" for it, it's normally white. You can order books from amazon.com and download to the Kindle to read. It saves all in a library. I just finished my 27th book since Christmas. If you like to read, I highly recommend getting one. Instead of going to the book store and buying several books at one time (like I used too), I lay in bed at night and go "Shopping the Kindle Store." Find a book that I think I might like, read the reviews and then down load it. My credit card is connected to the Kindle, so it takes about 30 seconds to have the book. This way I do not have books piled up, waiting to be read.
To give you an idea of the different books I've read, see below:

I am Ozzie - Ozzie Osborne - great book about a CRAZY man!

The Surgeon - Tess Gerritsen - a GREAT suspense thriller!

Tommyland - Tommy Lee - another great book by a crazy rock star!

The Dark Tide - Andrew Gross - a bit of a weird one!

Private Justice - Terri Blackstock - good book!

A Promise to Remember - Kathryn Cushman - VERY good book!

Sharon Osborne Extreme - Sharon Osborne - Ozzy's wife...great book!

Dear John - Nicholas Sparks - read it before the movie came out, it's good!

The Pact - Jodi Picoult - great book, love her stories!

The Blind Side - Michael Lewis - read it before the movie came out!

Primative - Michael Nykanen - one of the very best books I've ever read. One part actually had me breathing so hard, and my heart racing, I had to put the book down for a bit.

Just down loaded (will be my 28th book) "Sh*t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's supposed to be hysterical.

This is a short list of the books I have read. Many were FREE downloads, you just have to watch for them under suggested reading and get them while they are free. I got the small Kindle, for $250.00 and it hold like 3000 books. Again, if you like to read, I HIGHLY recommend getting one. There is a larger version, that hold more books (like 5000), that is almost twice the price, but I love my little one! When I get sleepy, I turn it off and the next night when I turn it on, my last page read comes up first. No bookmark needed! Books cost WAY less to download, than they are at Barnes & Noble...hard backs that are $17-25.00 at B&N, and less than $10 on the Kindle. Hope you enjoyed my review!

You can also get magazines...haven't tried that yet, because I like the books!

Mohawk?

Yes....summer is here. Colton and Dylan have their mohawks! And a little sun burn! Next will be "naked in the pool" with shaved heads, compliments of their Papa Danny, I'm sure.

Blog was down Sunday night and never even got on line last night. Trying to not settle back into working late everyday, so I left today at 5:26pm...home in time to eat dinner with Danny and Colby. Much better than having to microwave it, because I'm late.

Still really like my new job. The 10th will be a month....time flys when your having fun I guess.

Mystery solved...

Yesterday morning I saw a BIG healthy coyote out to the side of our house, at about 6am (yes, I wake early on the weekends too, it stinks, but it's habit). That is probably what tried to eat Rebel Friday morning.

Since Chelsey is in Austin with Dallas and his parents and Colby was headed to the lake, Danny and I hit the road at about 1pm and got back home just after 9pm. Just went sight seeing, had a couple of beers in a barn/garage, ate a great dinner and headed back home. Had to get back to make sure the coyote didn't get Lily!

Not sure what we'll do today.....stay out of the heat for sure!

Twins?

When you have twins, you always want others to experience the joy of double trouble.... We had several pregnancies in my former CTX office and as soon as the staff would tell me they were expecting, I'd start in on TWO, TWO, TWO.... My pal Kyle (yes, female Kyle) decided to play a little trick on me the day she was to have her first sonogram. She had it all worked out to get a sono picture of twins to bring back and show me, and make me think I had FINALLY wished it upon someone and it worked. The whole office was in on this..... Kyle returns from the doctor, walks into my office in tears and I immediately think something was wrong! She says to me "IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A JOKE!!!!" Tears rolling.... as you can see below, Brodie and Olivia are now 4 years old....guess I had the last laugh!
And my new rule is to NEVER say twins again....no one will let me, LOL.

Pam

WHAT was that noise?

Friday consisted of a couple of questionable noises.....

First, it's 5:30am, I'm up getting coffee, Lily is up with me, everyone else is asleep (it's summer time ya know).....and I hear Rebel (our cat) SCREAM out on the back porch. Lily is barking, Danny jumps up out of bed, I freeze.....remember the monster ALWAYS get the people that go looking for him in the movies, so I AM NOT looking! Danny opens the back door as I stand back and there is no sign of Rebel. Duke (our lab) has ran around back to investigate as well. I'm thinking surely we are yet again, down one pet. NOT wanting to find the monster or the cat in pieces I stay in the house, Danny gives up looking and we go back to our morning routine. As I go to the garage to leave about 45 minutes later, there's Rebel, on top of Chelsey's Jeep, with a funny looking twisted patch of hair on one side. No blood. Not sure what the heck got ahold of him, but at least he's okay! That was noise number one for my day....on to noise number two.

My office is very near 35 and 121 in Lewisville. Basically we are on the 121 service road, which means one way only when we leave, or we have to cut thru the back and wind thru back roads to get anywhere. I HATE this.....in Plano, although a very busy intersection, we had everything right there, to grab for lunch. Since I'm tired of getting out at lunch and having to find a place that is not too crowded to drive thru, I decided to buy a small fridge for my cube, so that I'd be able to take my lunch, and have it right there with me, instead of in the community office fridge, where the cleaning crew throws it away! Fast forward, after stopping for fridge and supplies at WalMart Friday morning and setting everything up, 1:30pm rolls around and I realize I've not had lunch yet and it's late....I open up my new fridge, take out ham, cheese, mustard, jar of pickles....in cabinet drawer I grab a paper plate, bread and a knife. Mind you, I am surrounded by co-workers that are talking, working, etc all the time. I take the lid off the mustard to remove the little safety seal, replace the lid and squeeze, so that I can put mustard on my bread. WELL, out comes this noise, sounding like one big toot (from the squeeze mustard, not me)......everyone around my cube, that can't see me, but obviously heard gets very quiet. I put the mustard up, and open the jar of pickles. Pickle smell almost immediately fills my cube.... Now, if you were sitting on the other side of the wall and heard and smelled this, what might you think? Let's just say no one said a word to me for at least a couple of hours!

Friday night came to a close after Danny and I had dinner in Anna, Chelsey was with Dallas and Colby went to Tyler's, to join the family in celebrating Junior's graduation. No more strange noises....cat's okay and remember my motto....NEVER EVER go looking for the monster, that's when he gets you!

Megan, I think Hayden looks like a little drunk man walking, LOL, so cute!!! Carla, I anxiously await your next Winnsboro story and Jeannine, I'll pay the extra weight fee to hide in your suite case for the Bahamas!

XOXO,
Pam

Memories of Granny...

Not sure what has sparked my thoughts....but here lately I've been thinking about my memories of my Granny Spencer. Maybe it was our visit on Saturday, to the Point Church of Christ. I walked thru the new building, and couldn't help but think about the old one. The pulpit faced the other way for one thing. There was no nice kitchen, as there is now. I remember going with Granny, to church, a long time ago. I remember craw fishing in her front yard. I remember that she had a napkin pinned to the window of her front door. I can remember Papa Spencer with a flat tooth pick in his mouth. I remember the rocking chair, the washer and dryer being in the dining room (and I think they were green), neapolitan ice cream, sugar wafer cookies, her car parked right outside the door off the kitchen, the bowls that I now have in my cabinet being used to make those wonderful oatmeal cookies and macaroni and cheese, the rooms being referred to as "Raymond and Barbara's" but never hearing where Mom's room was. I remember her visiting our first house in Celina and actually getting in the pool and her legs floating up. I also remember the dresser in her bed room, the heater in the bathroom, and her flowers being beautiful all the time. Some of this is amazing to me, because I know that I was very young when Papa was alive. I also remember his cataracts being in a jar in the desk under the front window, and the silver Christmas Tree with four colored light and pink balls. I remember my toys, that are now in a cabinet at my house.

I'm proud to say I remember all these things.....

Pam

What to post?

Well....I've checked Megan's blog and see that Hayden is having a blast getting into cabinets. And Carla is now growing tomato plants. And Jeannine actually updated her blog this week.

With all that said, what shall I post tonight? Here goes.....Colby and Tyler have gone to Frisco, to see a movie at the mall. Chelsey has gone to Frisco with friends. I'm NOT worried....LOL, yea right. Summer has begun I guess. Lord let us live thru this!

Our pool is a nice shade of light green tonight. Something has gone haywire on the pump, so I've sent a text, email and call out to our pool guy saying HELP!!! The longer it sits light green, the harder it is go get back to a clear shade. Hopefully it's a minor fix. AND, hopefully no one shows up to look at the house....

Work is still good, had my first meeting today and no one walked out. That's a good thing!

Woohoo!!! Pool guy is now talking to Danny, since I do not know diddly about it, and never plan too!

Have a nice evening and TGIF tomorrow!!!

Pam

Saint Joseph...

Laugh if you want too, BUT, let me tell you about Saint Joseph...... I've been in the Mortgage business FOREVER and have heard every story you can imagine about buying, selling, financing, and dealing with houses. It is good luck to bury a Saint Joseph statue under your for sale sign, upside down, facing the street. When you bury him, a little prayer is also to be said.

Well....yesterday Danny buried this little statue and said his own little prayer. One hour later, a lady showed up to look at our house. Now, it's not a contract, but it is a start. Laugh if you want, but we are keeping this little guy in the ground. After the house sells, and we move, we are to put him "in a place of honor" at the new place....if he helps us sell this place, I'll get him his own throne!

Pam
