It took a village...

I have to write this tonight, because I am not sure that I can tomorrow night.... We often hear 'it takes a village' for this and that. I think it took a village to get Chelsey and Colby to that stage tomorrow night. Grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, their sister, and friends have all said "I can't believe they are graduating!" I can't either honestly...it has taken a village to get them there. That village is every sister, grand parent, aunt , uncle, cousin and friend that has ever worried about, loved, and wondered about those two. There is also a group that will be watching from above....My Granny Spencer, Pa Bill, Papa Dosey, Granny Bobbie, uncle Donny and many others, the five I have named will be particularly be missed tomorrow night, because I am 100% certain they would have loved to see it. As we all sit and watch it unfold tomorrow night, I take comfort that this group is sitting together smiling above...as we smile here. This is my thank you to each of you for being such and important part of Chelsey and Colby's life and I can't wait for us to all see the next chapter together, worrying about them, loving them and wondering about them each day. We all had a little hand in is village.... Much love and a tear or two, PK P.S. ONE.MORE.DAY!!!!!!

Grasshoppers!

Danny and I slept until 11:30 today then we were up and off for a ride...so we headed up to Texoma. (yes, I love it up there!). We rode around several marinas, crossed over into Oklahoma and then back to Texas. On our way home, I noticed all this "stuff" on the road. After a while I realized that it was grasshoppers...all over the road. Danny thought I was nuts as usual, until he finally realized that I was correct! Crazy....other things we saw were a deer that had been hit, a sign that said "heifers AND quail for sale" and the best of all was a sign for a veggie stand that was "one / corter mile ahead". Made me laugh! Two work days then I am off Thursday for Graduation and Friday to recover! Have a good week all PK

Senior Prank Week...ugh!

Senior Pranks complete. One is going to cost us $107.00 for the damages. The other, no cost, thank goodess..the no cost one was a beach scene at the school parking lot. I asked 1) no truck load of sand? Nope. 2). No suntan oil disbursed? Nope. 3) Everyone have clothes on? Yep 4) Absolutely no way to get arrested, fined or cause me to have to write a check or hit an ATM? Nope. And absolutely, positively, no way they can take away walking the stage for diploma? Okay... I will just let you wonder about the other one and guess who was involved in which prank. F.I.V.E. More days....practicing my Momma Dance this afternoon! Watch for the headlines Friday morning. "Mom spends peaceful night in jail...after storming the stage for her Momma Dance, at twins Graduation". I will let someone know where I hide the bail money, just don't rescue me too quickly!!! Pam

One week from tonight!

One week from tonight....one of the things I have worried about for over 18 years will have a CHECK mark beside it. When I was pregnant with the kids, I worried myself sick about stuff that was what seemed like 100 years away. One was graduation TIMES TWO. Could we get them this far? Would they make good grades? Would it be hard to have them in two different classes? Would people compare them? Would their being premature cause any learning issues? Would they graduate together? Would they watch out for each other? Would they even act as if they were related? Would I have the patience for homework times TWO? could I even figure out their homework? Would every special project be TIMES TWO? Would we make it thru day care, pre school, elementary school, Junior High and High School? In one week, the CHECK mark should be there for all...or at least let's hope so! Pam

Chelsey and Shelby have the same taste...they have the same dress for grad,Bacc. The text said WE have to get another one MOM. My reply....you can, I am done! Forget that the dress could be a pillow case, as long as it is white. It's under the cap/gown for gosh sakes! The drama continues.....NINE days...single digit baby!!!! PK

Almost ready...

Worked Saturday until 1pm then ran home, picked up Chelsey and off we went for a white dress, that she will wear doe Baccularette and Graduation. Found it, after trying on about a dozen. Got her shoes after that. I also bought cups, pates, etc for the day of graduation. Only thing left is to order a cake. Today, Danny and I took off for Texoma. We went to check out the cabin I have pkaced a deposit on for the week of Juky 4th. D.U.M.P. Is what we found....so, we went back to the Marina that we stayed at 2-3 years ago and found the same cabin and a couple of other to choose from for that week. We settled on a cabin near the marina so I can fish! Can't wait to spend the week there! Back to work tomorrow. Hope this week goes by fast...so we can have a 3 day weekend. Next week I will work Tuesday and Wednesday, then off Thursday and Friday. Whoop whoop....11 days! PK

The end of an era

Coach Ford is retiring....during our many years in a football stadium wearing orange, I have watched this man chomp Ref's, praise the kids, yell at them as well, next year bet he's in the stands...instead of on the sidelines. Theoldcoach.rivals.com Pam P.S. 13 days!

Best shopping trip ever....why didn't I think of this sooner?

Note reads "group Senior pictures are Wednesday morning at 8am, before the Seniors leave for a day at Main Event.". Okay I can handle this...it's the next sentence that threw us for a loop "boys must wear a shirt and tie under their cap and gown for the photos". WHAT? We were going to wait till the last possible second to get Colbys stuff, because I am in NO hurry for that fight. So, thinking quick, I asked Chelsey if she and Colby could go to The Foundrey shop I Frisco after school. Their task was a white shirt, dark color slacks amd a white under shirt.....I wait for my phone to ring after school. 1pm passes. 2pm passes. I text "did you make it okay". Shortly after, phone rings....her it comes, I just know it. Chelsey days, okay we got everything...it's at the counter for you to stop and pay for it on the way home. I could have fainted! So....after work, I stop by the shop and when I walk in, I said, I am here to pick up and pay for clothes for Colby. The guy says OH you are Mom? Damn...here it comes, what's he going to say? I say yes....why. He said, those two did great. He said they had fun deciding what to get and that he could tell "mom had given specific instructions". And that Chelsey was definitely in charge of the shopping spree. LOL. Then he said "great kids Ma'am...you must be so proud". I paid for the stuff and walked out on cloud 9. Looking around to make certain he was actually talking to ME!

Scholarship Awards Night has come and gone.....both Chelsey and Colby received one for $500 each. Very nice to see them called to the stage. Actually I couldn't help but smile as each one was read aloud. In case you've ever wanted to know....a full ride football scholarship to Purdue has a value of $330,000.00. W.O.W. Only a couple of teary moments...one of her friends Mom passed away on New Years Eve. Chokes me up to see sweet Haley. The other was when one who's dad killed her mom, in a very high profile case a few years ago...the Grandmother is/has raised the kids. Lots of Sports $$$ awarded and Academics as well. A fun evening for the FFF. 17 days and counting.... PK

A great day!

Had a great Mother's Day! Up early, cooked breakfast....then everyone started rolling out of bed. Everyone gets ready and we head to Emory. Visit with Mom and Dad, Carla, Paul and Morgan. Then off to lunch at Sidekicks. Then we headed back to Greenville...couple of hour visit with Mary and Judy. Then we headed home.... I decided I would try Tank and his new colar. I walk out in the back yard...Duke takes one look at the colar and BOLTS thru the house to the front door. He never does this. I am trying to get him back out and he will NOT go. Finally it dawns on me....he thinks the leash is for HIM to go walking. He was determined! Danny gets up and gets Duke's colar and leash and off we go. Tank wants to run around the lake....so we run. Then we walk and then run again. He loved it! We made three laps then back to the house. But he was not ready to go home so we head down one more street and back. When we get home, he gets a big drink of water and poops out in the recliner with me. It's been a great Mother's Day...love you Mom, love you Carla...Happy Mother's Day. Love you Ashley... PK
