Tyler...

Update: today Dad was moved to Tyler. He's in Mother Francis Hospital, in their continuing care unit. He'll be there for about 3 weeks, while they continue treatment for the infection in his lungs, as well as get him back on track with his oxygen levels.

Looks like it will be a while, before we can go fishing and his Birthday is definately going to be different than originally planned, but the important thing is that he gets well.

Thank you to Uncle Raymond for giving Mom a break tonight.

Love to all,
Pam

They moved him

Okay...confirmed, Dad was moved to room 309, so he switched from the 4th floor, down to 3rd. Carla went for a visit after work, so we'll watch her blog for an update. Mom is spending the night, i believe. Hope he can rest better tonight and that Mom has a soft chair to sleep in.

I may make a round trip after work tomorrow........hard being so damn far away!

Pam

Noon update

I talked to Mom about 30 minutes ago. They are going to move Dad back to the 3rd floor. Not ICU, but down where other COPD patients are. He's tired and hasn't eatten his breakfast, but has drank a milk shake packed full of vitamins. Will check on them in a little while.

Pam

Morning check in

i called the nurses station this morning and they said Dad didnt rest too well. He told the nurse that he was tired. They plan to give him stronger meds tonight, so he'll sleep better. The good news is, they moved a monitor in him room, and during the night, each time the nurse checked on him, he was at 90 or above. Although Carla and i can't see the monitor when we are away from the hospital, it makes us both feel better that it is there. He left ICU, which is great, but it feels like we left our security blanket behind....

Round trip Sunday

Danny, Chelsey, Colby and i made a round trip to see Dad today. He was moved out of ICU about an hour after we arrived. Really good to see him continue to improve. The only thing that has me a little wound up, is that they left the machine that monitors his bp, oxygen, breaths per minute, in ICU. Carla is there as i type this and he is at 93, so that makes me feel a little better. Wonder if i call ICU and ask for William, he would go check on him tonight?

Again, thanks for all the prayers.......he's doing much better.

Pam

A good night

Just talked to the ICU desk and the nurse is in with Dad now, so i couldn't talk to her......yes, her, William survived and has gone home. The desk person said he had a good night. Much better than the previous night. It is great to call and have more good news!

One last call before we sleep

Spoke with William about 30 minutes ago, Dad was getting fretful, so he was going to give him meds. All was good up until just a bit ago. He's okay, just irratable again As i lay here in my bed tonight, i wish for the following:

That Mom has had a restful afternoon and a good night sleep.

That Paul and Carla can enjoy a day away from the hospital. That would mean Dad improves again!

That Dad is good when Danny, Colby, Chelsey and i get there tomorrow.

That he's well enough to get out of ICU tomorrow.

That this coming week arrives with daily improvement, so that Dad can be home by his birthday on the 2nd. We have some fishing to do. It may not be able to be at our house, but we'll find a place. After all, he's been talking about it since Wednesday!

And....that he isn't too tough on William tonight

Night night,
Pam

And dinner...

Carla's text "he just drank a milk shake, ate entire bowl of peaches, 2 cherry tomatoes, 5 bites of tators with gravy and 2 bites of some kind of meat". I'd say Dad's had a pretty good day. So grateful he's better. He looked good when i left, had just finished breathing treatment and asked for Cpap....yes, he asked for it. His poor nose is rubbed really red from all the masks. He's on 60 percent oxygen, unlike 100 percent yesterday, so that is progress. Hopefully he'll move to a room tomorrow, from ICU. I think he'll welcome the quiet of his own room.

Carla also said that Nurse William had him again tonight.....the same one he wanted to shoot last night. I'd like to be a fly on the wall.....

He had a few visitors today, seemed to enjoy the 15 or so minute visit with Mike, Kenny and Doris. Amazing that Kenny looks so great. He's one very lucky man.

Thanks for all the calls, text, emails to check on Daddy. We are elated that he's finally improving! Home for tonight and then making a round trip tomorrow. Long drive, but so worth it to see him feeling better.

Pam

P.S. Check Carla's blog as well. pandcbradshaw.blogspot.com

Lunch

Took Morgan and Mom to lunch. Mt Pleasant is NOT the restaurant capital of Texas, so we ate at iHop then ran by CVS. Carla and Paul stayed with Dad. He's now had 2 Ensures and a small carton of milk, plus 5 bites of tomato soup. He is snoozing..... Guess we should have offered an alternative to the feeding tube sooner, because he sure perked up to eat and drink.

Doctor came by, and said much better. As we get closer to evening time, i hope that he stays calm. Doc said maybe out of ICU tomorrow, if he continues to improve as he is now Hope he stays on the up hill swing so that can happen.

Pam

Finally, a little good news!

Fluid has lessened..... He is snoring at the moment. Feeding tube out, because doctor offered two options, 1). Put tube back or 2) he drinks 3 Insures by noon and another one later. He jumped at the Insure, and has already drank one. He woke up a bit ago asking for Mom. He told us that if he'd had a gun, he would have shot the night nurse (William). He said he was mean and wouldn't let him pee or get up. Or eat Imagine that!

We are just glad to finally have good news. Stay tuned, i feel a funny story or two coming. We've had a couple already, but we'll wait to share. It's kept Carla and i smiling and Morgan on her toes!

Thanks for the email Aunt Barbara, love to all.

Pam and her band of ICU waiting room gals.

Update

I think Carla and i both feel better, now that the cat is out of the bag.... Thanks to everyone for your notes, texts, calls, and emails. We really appreciate it.

An update. Dad slept really well until a little before 5am. He woke up fretful and trying to get out of bed. Michael, his big strong nurse took care of him with more meds. He's managed to partially tear out the feeding tube, so they will remove and reinsert Took well over an hour for the meds to kick in, and we are back at the hospital now, and he's sleeping soundly. Still has Cpap mask on, which he hates, but it's not bothering him at the moment. Carla and i both googled half the night. I checked out this hospital, and found nothing but glowing things referenced. I checked out his doctor, and he's great. Some might say, WHY Mt Pleasant, but everything i found says we are at an okay place i checked out pneumonia, sundown syndrome, and anything else to keep my mind from worry.

Sundown syndrome is something i had never heard of until the doctor said it last night. After reading all about it on line, i'd have to agree. He's very iratable as it gets dark. He even fought Carla a little late yesterday. It says not to over stimulate him, no shadows, no dark and keep familuar things around him. Carla and Morgan brought some pictures. I bought fishing magazines. This answers why he would ask for his cell phone yesterday and then just hold it and look at it. It's familuar, when not much else is in his ICU room. The machine noises set him off too, so they have the alarms off. He's down 6 pounds since yesterday, so the lasiks are working!

Off to check on him again. Watch my blog and Carla's for updates. pandcbradshaw.blogspot.com We both have our iPads at the hospital. Thank goodness for AT&T Mobility and Apple....

Say an extra prayer please....

I am sitting in Mom and Dad's backyard as I type this. Normally Daddy would be out here with me, but not tonight. If you read Carla's Blog, you'll get all the technical terms. I'll take the scolding from Mom, but Carla's right, our hearts are very heavy with Daddy being so sick. I can't ever remember seeing him even close to how he is at the moment. Please add him to your prayers. We'd like to have him around for a lot longer. He just wants to go fishing with us.

I love you Daddy, please get well soon....

Is tomorrow really Monday again?

Had a great Sunday, after being sick for most of my time off. Ended with a little fishing.....caught a bunch in about an hour. Thumb is all torn up to prove it, from taking so many fish off the hook.

Laundry done, house straight, car full of gas, guess i'm ready to go back at it for another week.

A special thank you to Jeannine, for making me laugh out loud over your fishing story! We fish with minnows at the FFF. Never chicken liver!

Love to all,
Pam

Happy Saturday all!

Four whole days!

Well.....i'm off for the next FOUR days....have been burning up my blackberry with last minute emails. All done, voice mail changed, out of office auto email reply set up.....woohoo! Track meet with Colby tomorrow, he's throwing something. Just excited to be able to recharge for a few days. Going to fish too, if the dang wind will stop. Beginning to feel like Lubbock around here.

Carla (love you too!) and Jeannine, thanks for posting. Megan, love Hayden's room. Ashley....Joanne is really doing well, i'm sure you have been following her improvements. Oh, and good luck with your first ever garage sale. Once the boys figure out they can sell things for money, I'd bet they drag stuff out of their room to sell!

Love to all,
Pam

On call

Danny and i are experiencing his first weekend "on call.". 2:37am this morning i hear a strange ring...hit the floor running to find out what it is. Danny is in the kitchen, holding his work pager/phone. There is no message so we head back to bed. No more get comfy again, and the house phone rings. Guardrail damage, he has to go. He gets home at 6:30 this morning. Sleeps a while and heads out to get gas, fertilizer, and a tire. Calls me and says ANOTHER guard rail issue...so he heads to McKinney, to the yard again and they off to the other side of Farmersville. Back at 4:30pm. We just got back from dinner at the Weston Cafe and i sat thinking PLEASE dont let that damn thing ring. We're back home now. Going to set the clock forward in a few minutes and pretend it's almost 10pm.

My Friday night was as follows:

Home at 7:45pm. Change clothes and head to Prosper for fajitas and a margaritta. Home right after and to bed. Wake up a little before midnight to make sure the kids get home. Back to bed, cant sleep, so i play Angry Birds until a little after 1am. Lights out. That damn phone rings, up at 2:37am. Back to bed after Danny leaves, cant sleep, so me and the Birds play again for about 30 minutes. Wake up at 5am hot, so i get up and go to the garage. Danny gets home at 6:30 and i go back to bed at 7:20. Back up at 9. Tired yet? I am! Night night. And if you plan to take out a guard rail tonight, please DO NOT do it in Collin County! I need some sleep...

Random updates

The beginning of this week is a blur. So happy for Friday, i could barely stand it! Last night...to the school for viewing of all the marble machines. I think i know what Physics is now...complicated, yet creative. The machines where amazing. Makes me so proud to be the parent of a beautiful girl, that can come up with something so great! And today? Well...what else....they all desteoyed their marble machines!

Danny and i just got back from Mexican food in Prosper. And a couple of margarittas perfect ending for one hell of a week!

Going to fish and do absolutely NOTHING tomorrow. May plant flower seeds and fertilize. Other than that, not a dang thing. C and C are on spring break next week....attempting to take a couple of days off. We shall see if that actually happens.

Off to sleep now....have a great weekend. Maybe the fish will be biting...i have minnows in a bucket, just waiting for the big one!

Love to all, especially Mom and Dad....will call you tomorrow!

Hello!

Good weekend. Found Chelsey's prom dress. Made a flying run to Emory and back Sunday was a grocery store run and 30 minutes of fishing....was too windy and cool to sit out there. And today? Of course...meetings, meetings, meetings!

Megan love the pictures!

Sunglasses!!!

I wore my sunglasses to and from work today.....this may not sound like a big deal, but to me, it means i left home at 7am (daylight) and just got home a little after 6pm (still daylight!). Working long hours makes me miss sunshine...and my sunglasses!

Headed to registration for the kids at 7pm. Senior year, here we come! Well as long as we finish the next 60 days or so that is.

Glad tomorrow is Friday. Going to Emory sometime this weekend. Probably Saturday afternoon, but will confirm. Chelsey wants to Prom dress shop, since she is the ONLY one that hasn't gotten a dress yet.... i am not looking forward to Promzilla again!

Havent talked to Ashley all week, i guess the boys have been good. No texts letting me know otherwise.

Notes to a few: Jeannine, its time for a new post. Megan, i hope your having fun with Jennifer. Carla, i agree, pay phones are few and far between these days. Mom and Daddy, i'll let you know when i am heading down. Love to all.

Signed,
Mother of TWO almost Seniors...
Time sure flys when your having fun.
