Made my day.....and hers...

Today....while running around the mall, I go upstairs to the candy factory store, to get Dallas' favorite, and a few things for C and C as a surprise....I walk in, and at the same time, a young lady walks in with a little girl, about 2-3 on her hip..... I hear her tell the lady that works there she has a $40 budget for candy, and it's for her daughters birthday party game prizes. I am milling around, getting candy by the pound, she's picking out matching colors of candy, etc. As I sorta watch, the employee gets this and that for her and I am thinking NO WAY is she getting out for $40! Because the candy is by the pound, so it's hard a tell just how much things will cost. A couple of times she asks the lady if she's close to $40, and the lady says....should be okay, should be okay.... After she picks it all out, and says, "maybe I should just get a bag from Target instead". Then she says, no I want this to be special for your sisters (she's saying it to the baby). I take note of the "s" at the end of sister, which makes my heart sing, as I think of twins girls, and a a birthday party..... She heads up to the scales/register, just as I am as well. I hear the employee say $62.03. The young lady says, I can't spend that much, we'll have to put some back. Then, She says Oooohhhhh, do you have a military discount? The employee says "no, sorry.". She stands for just a minute and says, okay, go ahead, it's going to be fun, so it 's worth it.

I can't stay silent another second.....I ask if her husband is military, she turns to me and says yes.... I ask "so, where's their Daddy at?". She looks at me with heavy tears in her eyes and says Iraq. I thought my heart would burst....she turned back to the register, digging cash and counting change from her purse....I put my candy on the scale with hers and said, "I've got it....". She said, that's very sweet, but it's okay, really. I said.....I insist, and as I paid for a mound of candy, both hers and mine, she cried big tears standing beside me, and was shaking as she said "thank you!!!!". I replied.......NO, thank you for what you give up....I hope the party is wonderful, hug your daughters from me, a stranger at the mall..... She hugged me and I walked out, with my candy, and a smile.

Sometimes it just feels right, to make someone's day.....thanks to the stranger at the mall for making my day!

A day off!!!!

Oh happy day....5 months into my new job, and I am finally taking a day off. What will I do? Manicure, pedicure, brow wax, cleaners drop off, run by Nordstrom's for a pair of shoes I do not need BUT must have, back for lunch with the kids (they get out of school at 12:30), head to the parade/pep rally, home and then to the game. For the first time in 13 years, I'll be off and Danny will be working. I'm off Monday too...four days...boohoo. I'll probably be bored by then, but I'll take that chance.

Chelsey received a HUGE mum from Dallas...she came running in with it yesterday, when I got home. She got him a really cute/nice arm band mum. It's white and silver, and she picked it all out by herself....all I contributed was a call with my credit card number. We also worked together to make him a candy bouquet. It turned out great and she took it to him before I got a picture....

Last night was "protect the float" night and I, being the terrible Mom, RUINED Colby's night, by making him stay home at 10pm. I heard Mom's voice come out of my voice, "loud and clear......NOT on a school night.". After a few door slams, Tyler looking at me and saying "it wasn't my idea" everyone settled down and went to bed. This morning his friends post, at 1am, was "feel sorry for Shelby's eye and Lee's truck.". ALL the more reason that making them be home by 10pm was a wise decision..... Stop smiling Mom LOL.

Danny just left for work....the kids are up, getting ready to start their Friday, and Lily keeps raising her head up (she's on her blanket at the end of the couch) and looking at me as if she's thinking "why are you still here?"

Photos to follow of the days events and the "sack attack" Homecoming game tonight. Woohoo, go Bobcats!!!!

Tata for now,
Pam

A fine, probation and defensive driving...

Chelsey and I went to court today....for the speeding ticket she got a few weeks ago. She was fine until we got into the lobby and a guy across from us was telling another man that he "just got out of jail" for something....two weeks he said. Chelsey started trembling a little. No tears, just nervous....she said Mom, we are here with criminals.....I said SSSHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The bailiff comes out and calls her name. In we go, both of us are to stand right in front of the judge, on a white tape line. The judge asks her if her grades are better than her driving.....he says "kids in Celina, Prosper, Frisco, McKinney, etc are killed everyday because of speeding in a vehicle.". Then he asks WHY she was speeding...she explains that Danny checked her out of school, to come after him, but she didn't know where to go and thought something bad had happened so she "punched it" to come home. The "punch" cost $270.oo and 90 days probation for her. He discounted it $70 "because her Daddy asked her to leave school.". She also has to take defensive driving....he looked at me and said "she can take it on line, if she'd like.". I replied.....NO, she'll be spending an entire Saturday at Golden Corral taking it..... The judge laughed and so did the bailiff. It is safe to say, that it scared her today. Not just the judge....but the whole process. I could be wrong, but I bet it is a while before she gets another one! Now....i may take Colby up there, with the "criminals" so he can get a little scared. Doesn't hurt them a bit!

No photo of Chelsey and the judge....probably would have gotten arrested, not worth it!

Football tomorrow night with Colby....Homecoming Friday night. Vacation Day for me Friday and a holiday Monday. FOUR days off....what will I do? Lily needs a hair cut, attending the parade and pep rally, and doing what ever the heck I want to....Danny will be working!

Night night....Pam

P.s. Marla, maybe if you rub Lovey in the dirt a little, she'll be brown!

Random things... (with corrections!)

Just a few pictures to catch you up
on the happenings at the Fenter Funny Farm...

My new car....yes, believe it or not, it is a Volkswagon!
25-32 mpg, I'll take it, for my numerous round trips to Lewisville!

Chelsey with "morning hair"

Colby in a gown.....he'll kill me over this one!

The dang trailer I got caught behind yesterday on my way home
from the grocery store. Seconds after I snapped this, all sorts of stuff
came flying off of it, and he had to pull over, thank goodness!

Lunch today consists of chicken, meatloaf, mashed potatoes (instant, because
Chelsey will NOT eat real ones), corn, pasta (yes Mom, two starches), deviled eggs, something green (to be determined) to add color AND
.....Pig Pickin Cake....
My best friend (Cherry) in High School's Mom used to make this
on Mondays after school (this was the one day of the week she was
not at the beauty shop) and it was my FAVORITE...
It's kinda tall (3 layer), so I had to make a foil dome to cover it.
Hope everyone likes it.....Dallas likes pineapples, so that is part
of the reason I decided to be a baker today.

Now for my notes to everone.....

Morgan, I love you, Merry Xmas, Happy New Year, Happy Valentines Day, Happy St Patrick's Day, Happy Birthday (see how much I missed!)....Hopefully I'll be able to see you to say Happy Halloween!!!! Dad, please do not worry...you'll feel better soon. Mom and Aunt Barbara, hope you had a fun weekend. Aunt Sharon, I'm sure you miss Hayden and Megan, but her posts have to make you smile. Paul, I think the repair guy was looking at the beautiful photos of your wife and daughters on the desk! Too funny that you "caught him in the act...." Carla, as I said, I can feel your smile from 100 miles away, and it feels good to know it's there. Marla, should you be following our blog, it's about time you post something about those beautiful girls!

XOXO to all, PK

Happy Tuesday...

Hello to all!

Dang, is it Friday yet? Mom used to say "don't wish your life away." But....Friday might be worth it!

A few updates. I got a promotion! Very excited to start my new position effective Friday. Hired my replacement today, very excited about her joining the team. And what were all my emails today? Meetings, meetings and more meetings. Oh well, time to make it "bigger, better and faster..."

I'm the only one not "down for the count" at our house tonight. Everyone else already kissed me goodnight and closed their bedroom door.... It's not even 9pm!

Happy for you Carla....and yes, welcome home from vacation Morgan, welcome home! Barbara, you'll have to tell me which book your puzzled about. Megan, just how big is the wall for your plate collection? Aunt Sharon, I'll bet your really enjoying Hayden, he's so darn cute. Mom, I hope you and Daddy are feeling better...the weather change has probably not help you at all, but gosh I'm glad it's actually tolerable outside of recent.

Paul....thank you for just being you.

Love to all,
PK

Kenny Chesney? Really?

Yes...Kenny Chesney...he showed up today at the Celina Pep Rally. I got to see the Escalade he came in, that's it... Below is a picture of him in an orange baseball cap, in the gym, talking to the crowd......and why was I there? Well....

Ring ring...goes my cell phone at 10:40am, it says Celina High School, UGH, goes my stomach....it's the school nurse. Colby has signs of a concussion from a pretty good hit last night. I spent a few minutes scrambling with files that were closing NOW, bolt out and fly to Celina...get him from school, fly to Presbyterian Hospital in Plano....CAT Scan, and all is okay, thank goodness...on way back, our phones are blowing up with text, rumor is, Kenny was in Celina, I punch it, get to Prosper and get stuck behind a HUGE tractor, 15 mph for several miles, PASS finally, keep flying North....get to the school, jump out to see if I can even catch a glimpse, someone tells me "it's over" so I get back in the car and fly back to Lewisville, and make it at 3:50pm, for a 4pm interview. No one, and I repeat no one, would have wanted to make that flying trip with me today. Boys won, in Paris 52-30. I hear Dallas and Keller had a great game. I got home from work at 10:30pm..and am still wound up tight. Think I'll take my knock out pills and hit the bed.
Was you day as exciting as mine? Kenny Chesney? Really? Yes.... Concussion? Really? Thanks goodness NO.... :-)
