This afternoon I was BEYOND mad at my beautiful children. On my way home I text both of them, "HOME by 8pm no questions asked or I'll be hunting you down". Both got home at 5 till 8. On the couch they went, side by side, while I paced and yelled (honestly this is really rare for me) for about 5 minutes. Their new rule is IF you are going to text Mom, DO NOT begin your sentence with "Can you, will you, I need, stop and get, we are out of...." or any form of those words. I believe after 5+ minutes of full blown red faced Mom yelling, they have it all straight. Afterward, they folded and put up the towels, straightened their rooms, will likely not leave a dish BY the sink anymore, will NOT use the "good" towels in the bathroom, or leave crap all over the back patio after friends have visited for a swim, and dang sure will not text me with a request. Unless someone or something is on FIRE, my phone number off limits, unless they just want to say they love me..... Whew, do I feel better!

Father's Day is coming!
In just one week it will be Father's Day again..... I'm reading the book (well the Kindle virtual book anyway) "Funny Sh*t my Father Says." A few of the funnies from the book:
On breaking the Neighbor's Window for the third time;
What in the hell is the matter with you? This is the third time! You know, at this point I think it's the neighbor's fault...No not really, it's your f'ing fault, I'm just in denial right now that my DNA was somehow involved in something this stupid.
On appropriate times to give a gift:
Yea, I got him a gift. He got a kidney stone taken out. If you shoot a rock thru your pecker, you deserve more than just a pat on the f'ing back!
On selling his beloved 1967 2-Door Mercury Cougar:
This is what happens when you have a family. You sacrifice. (pause) You sacrifice a lot. (long pause) It's gonna be in your best interest to stay away from me for the next couple of days.
You may not see the humor in just a couple of lines from the book, but it's pretty funny.
As for Father's Day coming up, I think about a few things.....
Danny, the man that I PROMISED 20 years ago, I ONLY wanted one baby (we all know how this one turned out), the man that has made me laugh, cry, scream and dream for so many years... Who taught me to shoot pool, drink Jack Daniels (although with diet coke instead of water like you), spent countless hours in the sun at Wind Point Park, shoot a shot gun (remember I DID miss you that day in Crockett, although not by much), washes dishes and reminds me that it does not take every pot and pan in the house to boil water, snores like there is no tomorrow, still wears a Speedo, gave up 12 long years to make sure the kids didn't miss anything while I worked, puts up with my Choctaw trips, shopping sprees, messy closet...the list is endless....thank you! And Happy Father's Day Week...I love u!
Danny's Dad, Douglas, Papa Doe, Dosey: He taught me to play canasta, and I caught on to he and Uncle Doug cheating fairly quickly. He fished with me a few times and was such a neat man who loved his grand kids more than life itself. He'd hide an Easter Egg, no matter what the weather was doing. Fed cookies to squirrels, wore overalls a lot and used to get this "WTF" look on his face at times, but NEVER say a word. Sure miss that man. Hugs to you in heaven...
As for you Daddy....you taught me to like green plums, fish (including putting any kind of live bait on a hook), slide down the fire station pole, inherited your feet, and taught me to ride my ponies, using a goat weed on his behind to keep him focused. Your attempts at making me have anything to do with cows were NOT a success...remember the time you told Carla and I to stand between the truck and the pond and not let the cows run thru? How fast did Carla and I bolt, when they headed our way? You were DETERMINED to teach me to drive the VW, and here we go, sitting beside the house, I pop it into reverse, you in the passengers seat, and we both look back, I ease off the clutch and we lurch forward, into the fence. Least I helped you bend it back! I still eat mustard on my steak, just like you, even though everyone else makes a face at me. And for that matter, I believe steaks cooked at home are far better than any restaurant could ever be! Although we are far away, and rarely slow down for a visit, please know that I love you and wish you a Happy Father's Day Week! We'll see you next weekend, I promise.

Colby goes Shopping...
Yesterday afternoon, Colby walks into the kitchen and says "Mom, I got Tap Out shirts at WalMart." I said "Son, WalMart does not carry Tap Out shirts." He went on to say that he checked the tag, and it said something else, BUT they are just like Tap Out.... AND he was so proud of himself for finding 3 shirts for $15.00 total plus tax. He said MOM that's $5.00 each! His words? "I'm going to shop at WalMart from now on!" If I could just get Chelsey into this mode, we'd be all good. Can't see it happening, but a Mom is allowed to dream too!
Trying to decide what I shall cook today. Was thinking crock pot, but just not sure. Colby will eat just about anything. Chelsey on the other hand...well let's just leave it at that.

Just another Saturday...
Nothing exciting at all today...was a bit tired from getting home at midnight last night (YES, I know I'm old!). Went to Starbucks with Danny, dropped off dry cleaning (I MUST be the only person that can have $89.00 worth of dry cleaning, when it's somewhere around $1.50 per piece...) and then headed to Lewisville to show Danny where my office is, in case he'd like to drop by for lunch one day. Since we had time (ie., more than I have on my lunch hour) we drove around to see just what was in the area. I'd say EVERYTHING... Even found a Souper Salad, which is a definite favorite of mine. Had lunch at BJ's Brewery and then headed East to meet up with Carla and Paul in Garland. Carla was having her laser work done, she says DON'T ASK, so I'm not. Then back home. Fell asleep on the couch for about an hour and a half, then as I woke up, Danny laid down for a nap. So....I did what anyone would do.....headed into McKinney for a hair cut (more like a scalp, since I've cut it myself so much, and it had to be re-worked), pedicure and brow wax. Ran into Ulta and then back home. Danny's awake and hungry again, so we head out to Prosper for Mexican Food at Ernesto's.
Home by 8:30, watching the Rough Riders (minor league baseball team from Frisco) on one of Danny's off the wall satellite channels. Already took my sleepy pills, so I've probably got another 20-30 minutes and I'll be asleep again.
Carla, love the photo of Dirty St Joseph and am also glad his place of honor is with Puppy and Kitty, on your mantle. (by the way, Paul, I'm already on the look out for your next "unusual" gift!) Now that your St. has worked, and since I bought them at the same time, maybe our St Joseph was just waiting until yours finished his job. I'm sure his magic will kick in here soon. As we say in Celina, WE BELIEVE!

And the winner is...
Lone Star Park was a lot of fun! I actually picked 5 of 9 winners, and came home up by $300.00+. The office pick, dontarguewithgirls came in second to last... Oh well, it's still a great name for a horse. A few images are below, although not very clear, because we were in the Suites on the sixth floor. Fun Fun Fun!!!

Lone Star Park tonight.
Going to Lone Star Park with a group from the office. LOVE the horse races almost as much as Choctaw. I let my Processing team pick one horse to bet on. Their choice? dontarguewithgirls in the first race. I'd say that's a perfect pick!
Eli Young Band after the races...should be lots of fun. We'll be in the 6th floor suites. Can I just say it again.......I love my new job!

Kindle review.....
First...let me say, I'm not selling anything here, just giving my review. For Christmas, I bought something for myself, that I REALLY wanted. It's the Kindle from amazon.com If you've heard of it, you've heard it's fabulous. If you've not heard of it, let me give you a snap shot. Photo below is of MY Kindle. I ordered the orange and white "skin" for it, it's normally white. You can order books from amazon.com and download to the Kindle to read. It saves all in a library. I just finished my 27th book since Christmas. If you like to read, I highly recommend getting one. Instead of going to the book store and buying several books at one time (like I used too), I lay in bed at night and go "Shopping the Kindle Store." Find a book that I think I might like, read the reviews and then down load it. My credit card is connected to the Kindle, so it takes about 30 seconds to have the book. This way I do not have books piled up, waiting to be read.

Primative - Michael Nykanen - one of the very best books I've ever read. One part actually had me breathing so hard, and my heart racing, I had to put the book down for a bit.
Just down loaded (will be my 28th book) "Sh*t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's supposed to be hysterical.
This is a short list of the books I have read. Many were FREE downloads, you just have to watch for them under suggested reading and get them while they are free. I got the small Kindle, for $250.00 and it hold like 3000 books. Again, if you like to read, I HIGHLY recommend getting one. There is a larger version, that hold more books (like 5000), that is almost twice the price, but I love my little one! When I get sleepy, I turn it off and the next night when I turn it on, my last page read comes up first. No bookmark needed! Books cost WAY less to download, than they are at Barnes & Noble...hard backs that are $17-25.00 at B&N, and less than $10 on the Kindle. Hope you enjoyed my review!
You can also get magazines...haven't tried that yet, because I like the books!
