Exciting news..

Sometimes it is the little things that make this girl happy.....Monday, on my way home from work, I discovered too late that the new bridge from 121 to the tollway was open. F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. This may not seem big, but for a year and a half I have had to exit off of 121, sit thru a light, go less than 50 yards, sit thru another, turn left and go less than 100 yards and sit thru another. Now....in all this time, I have figured out that if I am FIRsT in line at the 2nd light and punch it when the light turns I can make it before the last light turns yellow/red. And I mean lay down on it to make it....it's all part of the game. Being first is the real challenge. Yesterday and today, I took the tollway exit and went up and over the bridge and made it to the same spot in 1 minute, that usually takes 5 or more minutes. Today, same thing! So.....I can now make it home, traffic permit, in 30 minutes. That my friends and family is exciting stuff. Consider I have commuted since 1984, 5 days a week (except holidays and the rare chance I take vacation) a minimum of 40 miles round trip...I refuse to calculate the gazillions of miles, but it is no doubt a bunch, 5 minutes is a lot of time.... See, it's the small things sometimes...

Correction to yesterdays post...

She was NOT texting. She was putting on her make up. News at 8pm aka Chelsey Fenter told me this... The good news is that Mikaylee is doing well. She's banged up, has broken bones, will need surgery to repair her leg and hip, but she's is lucky it was not far worse.

BBQ brisket smell fills the house right now. Love my crock pot. 4 items needed. 1. Crock pot. 2. A fully trimmed brisket. 3. A bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce. 4. A crock pot liner (I never use my crock pot without one...no scrubbing this way). Pour a little sauce in the crackpot after placing the bag in it. Put the brisket in, fat side up. Pour the rest of the sauce on top. Pit the lid on and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Your house will smell like a BBQ restaurant, but GOSH is it good. I just take the meat out and scratch it with a fork to shred, then chop if sandwiches are the plan. Soooo easy and this way I can say I cooked!

Off to watch tv and relax a little. Dang it sure got cool this afternoon. Raining too. Good news is that I am home!

Love to all,
Pam

Makes you stop and think....

This morning as I am getting ready for work, after Chelsey had left for school, I happen to walk by my cell phone amd notice 4 missed calls. I pop it open, remembering that I had turned the ringer off yesterday in a meeting, to see all were from Chelsey. She had just left the house...I immediately dial her and she says MOM thanks for answering...there is a wreck on Preston and she's going to be late for class. I tell her to not worry, if Preston is shut down, it must be bad and that others will be late too...no worries. A few minutes later she texts me that is Mikaylee, a girl from her class. I see care flight head out just as she texts that it was bad and they had to cut her from the vehicle. Took an hour and a half to get her out....and they were Parkland bound. Turns out, they think she may have been texting and ran into the back of a rock hauler. The speed limit is 60 mph where it happened....left femur is split. Ball in her hip is shattered. Also right foot is possibly broken. Surgery tomorrow to do repairs.

Sure makes you think about how things can change in the blink of an eye....hope she's okay. Beautiful girl. Chearleader. Lots of friends so many showed up at the hospital, they made them leave Life will likely change for her. Today as I rode home....my cell phone stayed in my cup holder. That blinking red light could wait. Be safe all!

Candy...

For the first time since 1997, we will have Trick or Treaters for Halloween. We have always lived "way off the road, and not in a neighborhood" so this is going to be fun. Chelsey and I made a pumpkin and candy run this afternoon. The pumpkin is not carved yet...it may not get carved. Can't wait to see all the little ones dressed up tomorrow night.

Another day cleaning the house. Oh so close to DONE. Danny is Mr Walk down memory Lane while I am cleaning and packing. I was ready to kick his tail. He finally went to the garage and with Colby and Kevin's help, got all the trash and junk out. He stopped to look to look at every picture, news paper clipping etc. Good thing I was on go and full of energy. Not so much now....

Couple of loads of laundry and my day will be done. Oh, and watching the Cowboys as well.

Hope everyone has a great Monday and Halloween.

Good morning!

Woke up at 3am and thought something seemed odd so I get up to investigate....front door was standing wide open! Good thing Lily and Tank didn't realize it...

Sent the day at the other house. Almost ready to haul everything to storage. Be glad when it is all done..

Chelsey was a little sad, well a lot sad, yesterday. It was Dallas' birthday. One year since the split. She went to dinner with Danny and I and then out with friends. On our way home we stopped for a few things at the grocery store. We run into Colby, Tyler and Jamarick. Colby's screw had come out of his glasses, so for about 15 minutes, after buying a glasses repair kit, we got it fixed. The scantly clad girls came in while we were working on it....the boys forgot all about the glasses until I snapped them back with me. I laughed so hard. If we were on tape by the registers, watch for it on YouTube. LOL.

Today I want to get a pumpkin or two to carve for a contest at work tomorrow. Searching pinterest for ideas...

Happy Sunday all!

21 years ago today.....

21 years ago, Danny and I stood by a lake and said our vows. We didn't know what the future would bring...who knew I'd be typing this on a blog 21 years later.

Things I remember about this day:

Paitnting the white picket fence at the crack of dawn, in case it was in the pictures.

Danny putting his hand on my back as I got to him, and saying my dress was pretty. (will never ever forget that moment)

Swatting a bee from Danny's boutineere and hoping it couldn't be seen on the video.

Turning around after the kiss only to discover my Sister in law hadn't flipped the cassette tape.

Cutting the cakes

Dad putting a penny in my shoe

Mom's pink dress

Carla smiling as I walked down.

Ashley smiling as I walked down and holding my flowers so proud.

Ashley sitting in the floor board of my car, and me seriously considering just taking her to the horse races with us.

The cans (that I still have) that were hanging from the rear view mirror. Not even sure who made them.

Happy Anniversary Danny! Cheers to many more...
