Update

I just talked to Mom a little bit ago. They had Dad up walking today it's been two weeks, so i am sure he was glad to be mobile. He used a walker, but who cares, he was standing! She said they would be moving him next week, from ICU, to another part of the hospital. He's eatting good (raw oysters yesterday...gag). Mom even sounded good, less worry in her voice. She's at a friends house tonight, to save on the drive time, so Thank you to Val for letting her hang out with you.

Off to bed, headache and tired tonight

A video worthy of "People of WalMart"

Okay.....so i head to WalMart at noon (Danny says....see ya 4pm, the turd!) with a very short list of items to buy. Make a run thru, get all on the list, check out and head to the parking lot. My list consisted of the following:

Clementines (those little oranges), two BIG trash cans, carpet fresh, birthday cake, little trash bags, dog food, wheat bread, broom, BIG trash bags, 2 gallons of milk, and a new rug for the kitchen. Got all but the rug, and only added 2 helium balloons after i got there.

Soooooo......i am headed to Chelsey's SUV (planned ahead for the trash cans) fighting the balloons in the 100 mph wind. Tie the balloons to my purse, put them in the front passenger seat, try and shut the door while balancing the cake with one hand. The gd balloons are trying to escape. Foot hooked in cart to keep it rolling away. Death grip on cake. Smacking the balloons, trying to get them far enough in, so i can shut the door. Still wind is 100mph. Wrap balloon strings around purse, throw across to driver's seat, slam door. Pam 1 Balloons 0.

Wheel cart to back of SUV. Keys are, yep, you guessed it, in purse....push cart to driver's door. Balloons are right against window. Push cart to other side, open passenger door, grab purse, balloons come too....take keys out of purse, with balloons slapping me in the face in the wind. Throw purse back to driver's seat, still balancing cake, one foot hooked in cart and YES, still windy as heck! Slam door. Hit button to open back door, up it goes....here come balloons. Fight them back AGAIN. Pam 2 Balloons 0. Place cake in first.

Get sacks out, that are all around trash can in cart....broom falls over and pops me in the head. Get all sacks out and in back, then see 25 lb bag of dog food, which i wisely place on bottom of cart, so nothing got mashed. Wheel cart to back passenger door, and balloons are right there, as if they are smiling at me. Wheel around to driver's side back door....open it up, grab dog food, toss it in and shut door....was feeling pretty good until i look back at cart and there are the gd trash cans....OKAY.... Back passenger door, fight ballons again, grab dog food, toss over into drivers side seat, grab trash cans, and here come the GD balloons again..... Sit down trash cans, take balloons and stuff them under seat, dont even care if they pop at this point....take out trash cans, with them propped on my legs, i walk them into the back seat. Balloons try and escape AGaIN....slam door. Cart is empty. Take it over to cart return, wipe sweat from forehead.....walk back to drivers door, open it....and NOW the dog food is a problem...not enough room for my wide butt and 25 lb bag of dog food....grab it, toss to passenger seat, jump in and shut the door. Keys? Keys? Well.....they are laying inside the back, with the cake if course... Sooo...i thought, okay, they car is push button start, maybe it will work.....allas...it starts. I get out of the parking lot, onto to 380, turn on 2478, flying home....it's 1:35 at this point, so i am thinking HAHA...Danny was wrong, i WILL make it before 4pm. Drive down 2478, turn on 1461, then down to 2478 again.....come over a hill and a tractor is pulling a mobile home right down the middle of the road! SLAM on the breaks, trash cans rock forward and back and OUT pop the balloons.....soooooo, the three of us ride home, with me holding them in one hand and driving with the other. I get home, park in garage, take balloons in first. Tie one in Chelsey's room and the other in Colby's. Double knot, so that they do not visit the ceiling fans....

Unload the sacks, unload trash cans, throw dog food bag out in garage.... Go in the house and sit in chair for a minute. Grrrrrrr, forgot the cake, go back out, get it out of the car, and set on counter...... I look at my cell phone, and Chelsey has text at 1pm...."get us something for lunch...". She can eat a couple of balloons for all i care!

Good grief...what a fiasco.....worthy of "people of WalMart" wall of fame.....

Sorry you missed it!

Orange icing...

Forgot to write about the orange icing yesterday....Carla, the picky sister, had to make more that one stop for Dad's cake. She finally found just the right one. It was white with orange icing for trim. So.....she takes the top off to show it to Dad and almost dumps the cake on him, almost! Then we cut the cake, and i end up with orange icing on my shirt, Mom has it on her's too. Morgan a little spot, Mom on her face, and Carla all over her fingers. Morgan, the picky ones daughter, has a Tide stain stick in her purse. I think we all used it by the time we were done with the cake, which was a little frozen, but very good. The rest was left for the nurses, who wiped it out before we left.

To Tyler and back

Made the round trip today, to see Dad. He looked good. Cat napped on and off. Ate birthday cake. Ate chicken strips, mashed potatoes and gravy. I think he looked a lot better today, than last Sunday when i saw him. Dr said have to get him better, before they can figure out what the spot is on his lung.

On the way i saw tons of bluebonnets. Also saw the Extreme Makeover House in Mineola. Looks pretty neat, but i didnt like the turquoise doors very much.

Just put up the rod and reels. Everyone but me was catching fish! It's not usually that way...

Happy birthday Dad,

Love you,
Pam

Happy Birthday Daddy!

No one should have to celebrate their 70th birthday in the hospital, but it appears that is what we will do today, with Daddy. I talked to Mom last night. She said she spent the day rounding up all his medical records from Emory, SS, Mt Pleasant and Winnsboro. All are being reviewed by the doctors in Tyler. They pulled fluid off his lungs yesterday to test. She was also told that they do not see anything indicating a biopsy was done. Humm....that's sorta what started all this, or so we thought. Headed there in a couple of hours to see what's up. Dad says "no gifts" of course. We'll have to find him something, just not sure what that will be!

As for this week, just busy finishing up month end. Record month of closings!

TTFN, going to hit the shower after i finish my coffee.

Love to all, and thanks for your continued prayers, we just want Dad well, so he can come home!

Tyler...

Update: today Dad was moved to Tyler. He's in Mother Francis Hospital, in their continuing care unit. He'll be there for about 3 weeks, while they continue treatment for the infection in his lungs, as well as get him back on track with his oxygen levels.

Looks like it will be a while, before we can go fishing and his Birthday is definately going to be different than originally planned, but the important thing is that he gets well.

Thank you to Uncle Raymond for giving Mom a break tonight.

Love to all,
Pam
