Spoke with William about 30 minutes ago, Dad was getting fretful, so he was going to give him meds. All was good up until just a bit ago. He's okay, just irratable again As i lay here in my bed tonight, i wish for the following:
That Mom has had a restful afternoon and a good night sleep.
That Paul and Carla can enjoy a day away from the hospital. That would mean Dad improves again!
That Dad is good when Danny, Colby, Chelsey and i get there tomorrow.
That he's well enough to get out of ICU tomorrow.
That this coming week arrives with daily improvement, so that Dad can be home by his birthday on the 2nd. We have some fishing to do. It may not be able to be at our house, but we'll find a place. After all, he's been talking about it since Wednesday!
And....that he isn't too tough on William tonight
Night night,

And dinner...
Carla's text "he just drank a milk shake, ate entire bowl of peaches, 2 cherry tomatoes, 5 bites of tators with gravy and 2 bites of some kind of meat". I'd say Dad's had a pretty good day. So grateful he's better. He looked good when i left, had just finished breathing treatment and asked for Cpap....yes, he asked for it. His poor nose is rubbed really red from all the masks. He's on 60 percent oxygen, unlike 100 percent yesterday, so that is progress. Hopefully he'll move to a room tomorrow, from ICU. I think he'll welcome the quiet of his own room.
Carla also said that Nurse William had him again tonight.....the same one he wanted to shoot last night. I'd like to be a fly on the wall.....
He had a few visitors today, seemed to enjoy the 15 or so minute visit with Mike, Kenny and Doris. Amazing that Kenny looks so great. He's one very lucky man.
Thanks for all the calls, text, emails to check on Daddy. We are elated that he's finally improving! Home for tonight and then making a round trip tomorrow. Long drive, but so worth it to see him feeling better.

Lunch
Took Morgan and Mom to lunch. Mt Pleasant is NOT the restaurant capital of Texas, so we ate at iHop then ran by CVS. Carla and Paul stayed with Dad. He's now had 2 Ensures and a small carton of milk, plus 5 bites of tomato soup. He is snoozing..... Guess we should have offered an alternative to the feeding tube sooner, because he sure perked up to eat and drink.
Doctor came by, and said much better. As we get closer to evening time, i hope that he stays calm. Doc said maybe out of ICU tomorrow, if he continues to improve as he is now Hope he stays on the up hill swing so that can happen.

Finally, a little good news!
Fluid has lessened..... He is snoring at the moment. Feeding tube out, because doctor offered two options, 1). Put tube back or 2) he drinks 3 Insures by noon and another one later. He jumped at the Insure, and has already drank one. He woke up a bit ago asking for Mom. He told us that if he'd had a gun, he would have shot the night nurse (William). He said he was mean and wouldn't let him pee or get up. Or eat Imagine that!
We are just glad to finally have good news. Stay tuned, i feel a funny story or two coming. We've had a couple already, but we'll wait to share. It's kept Carla and i smiling and Morgan on her toes!
Thanks for the email Aunt Barbara, love to all.

Update
I think Carla and i both feel better, now that the cat is out of the bag.... Thanks to everyone for your notes, texts, calls, and emails. We really appreciate it.
An update. Dad slept really well until a little before 5am. He woke up fretful and trying to get out of bed. Michael, his big strong nurse took care of him with more meds. He's managed to partially tear out the feeding tube, so they will remove and reinsert Took well over an hour for the meds to kick in, and we are back at the hospital now, and he's sleeping soundly. Still has Cpap mask on, which he hates, but it's not bothering him at the moment. Carla and i both googled half the night. I checked out this hospital, and found nothing but glowing things referenced. I checked out his doctor, and he's great. Some might say, WHY Mt Pleasant, but everything i found says we are at an okay place i checked out pneumonia, sundown syndrome, and anything else to keep my mind from worry.
Sundown syndrome is something i had never heard of until the doctor said it last night. After reading all about it on line, i'd have to agree. He's very iratable as it gets dark. He even fought Carla a little late yesterday. It says not to over stimulate him, no shadows, no dark and keep familuar things around him. Carla and Morgan brought some pictures. I bought fishing magazines. This answers why he would ask for his cell phone yesterday and then just hold it and look at it. It's familuar, when not much else is in his ICU room. The machine noises set him off too, so they have the alarms off. He's down 6 pounds since yesterday, so the lasiks are working!
Off to check on him again. Watch my blog and Carla's for updates. pandcbradshaw.blogspot.com We both have our iPads at the hospital. Thank goodness for AT&T Mobility and Apple....

Say an extra prayer please....
I am sitting in Mom and Dad's backyard as I type this. Normally Daddy would be out here with me, but not tonight. If you read Carla's Blog, you'll get all the technical terms. I'll take the scolding from Mom, but Carla's right, our hearts are very heavy with Daddy being so sick. I can't ever remember seeing him even close to how he is at the moment. Please add him to your prayers. We'd like to have him around for a lot longer. He just wants to go fishing with us.
I love you Daddy, please get well soon....
